Bill has held a number of key positions in both the maintained and independent sectors;

  • Service Manager/Quality Improvement Manager (ASN) for a local education authority
  • Member of the National Autism Strategy Reference Group responsible for overseeing the implementation of an autism strategy for Scotland
  • Depute of the Training and Cross-agency Collaboration sub-group (ASD)
  • Member of UKAP (UK ADHD Partnership) which aims to improve the understanding, awareness and support for children and families affected by attention disorders.
  • Member of Cross Party Group on Children & Young People (Scottish Parliament)
  • Chair of the Perth & Kinross Autism Network
  • Education advisor to Mindroom
  • Education advisor to Perth & Kinross & Dundee & Angus ADHD Support Groups
  • Member of the Tayside Autism Assessment Pathway & Complex Kids Panels
  • Headmaster of an independent special residential school (10-18) for pupils unable to manage mainstream learning environments
  • Adviser to UAE government on establishment of a new centre for autism
  • Housemaster and Head of Department at an independent boarding school

Current commissions include the assessment of on-line training/CPD in learning difficulties for GPs (for the Royal Society of GPs), an independent assessment of 2 schools for the Additional Support Needs Tribunal, and work on behalf of the Perth & Kinross ADHD Support Group to divert pupils at risk of future offending, towards more positive outcomes.
Bill is registered as an accredited independent educational consultant, and as a member of the General Teaching Council (Scotland).
He holds post-graduate qualifications in Asperger's syndrome and Social, Emotional and Behavioural Difficulties.
