Support
for the identification of learning difficulties
and developmental disorders.
CLC
Consultancy administers a range of assessments
to support parents/carers and teachers to
understand learning and behavioural
difficulties. The Strengths & Difficulties
Questionnaire (SDQ) and the Development and
Wellbeing Assessment (DAWBA) provide useful
pointers towards the existence of any underlying
problems and are relatively easy to complete.
The Autism Diagnostic Interview (Revised) or ADIr is the 'gold standard assessment tool for autism. It does not by itself lead to a diagnosis but can accelerate the process by providing key information to clinicians. The Autism Diagnostic Observation Schedule is a brief but intense assessment of current functioining and explores a child's social skills, social motivation, capacity for imagination, and communication skills.
The ACE+ is a well-researched assessment for both child and adult Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder . Once again, it does not provide an unequivocal diagnosis but delivers important information about a client's developmental history and state of current functioning for the diagnostician. It is an important tool when consulting a GP about possible referral to ssecondary health services (such as CAMHS or adult mental health clinics).
